Camp Pride Spots Still Available for July 12-16, 2023

Founded in 2007, Camp Pride is one of the longest-running LGBTQIA+ summer leadership camps for youth and the only one of its kind for college students. It continues to be the premier national training academy for social justice and grassroots activism for LGBTQIA+ and allied young adults at colleges and universities. 

Camp Pride is open to all undergraduate students from two-year, four-year, Minority Serving Institutions (HBCU, TCU and HSI) and religiously-affiliated colleges and universities. 

Join us for Camp Pride 2023 Wednesday July 12th through Sunday July 16th (3 full days and 2 half days) at UNC Charlotte. Read below for this year’s Camp Pride highlights:

We are excited to welcome our summer interns to Camp Pride, who will present peer-led workshops on “Intersectionality and Unconventional Strategies in Student Organizing,” “The Power of Trans Joy,” and “Exploring Gender and Sexuality Through Tabletop Role-Playing Games.”

Attend additional info sessions/workshops including: “Understanding Your Identity, Power, and Privilege” with Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington, President and Founder of Washington Consulting Group;  “Performative Activism and Advocacy in Corporate America” with Robert Goman, Sr. Director of NIKE Direct Brand Marketing; and “Telling Your Story” with Dr. Jon Higgins, host of the Black Fat Femme Podcast.

Our featured speakers include Ted Lewis, the Director of Youth & Family Programs at the Human Rights Campaign, and our Keynote Speaker (and former Camper) Rebby Kern, the Director of Education Policy at Equality NC. We will also have featured panels on intergenerational connections in the LGBTQIA+ community and Campus Pride’s Career Connect.

Each night features a social activity ranging from LGBTQ trivia, karaoke hosted by DJ Magic Mike, and Saturday night’s talent show/dance hosted by drag legend Eureka O’Hara!
