Campus Pride selected as a Top 10 finalist for SEED20 OnStage and competes for $55,000 in prizes among other Charlotte-based nonprofits

600x600SeedCampus Pride founder and executive director Shane Windmeyer has been selected as one of the Top 10 finalists for Social Venture Partners’s SEED20 Class of 2016 competing for cash and grant awards totaling up to $55,000. SEED20 Class of 2016 is comprised of Charlotte-area nonprofit entrepreneurs. Since December, Windmeyer has been training with coaches working towards the pitch of Charlotte’s ‘big idea’ at SEED20 OnStage!

“We are honored at Campus Pride to take part in such a monumental event in our hometown Charlotte,” said Shane Windmeyer, Executive Director of Campus Pride. “Taking part in SEED20 has allowed our organization to shine among local talents and nonprofits. Recognition of entrepreneurs is key in supporting local work and creating the strongest, most innovative solutions for tomorrow.”

The SEED20 program culminates in SEED20 OnStage!, a high-energy event where the Top 10 SEED20 finalists compete to win cash awards totaling up to $55,000. Each participant makes a three-minute presentation or “pitch” to a panel of judges and an audience of business and nonprofit leaders, foundation executives, and other members of the area’s entrepreneurial community. SEED20 OnStage! includes a showcase reception following the presentations where the audience can interact and network with the entire SEED20 class to learn more about their mission and opportunities for support and engagement.

This year SEED20 OnStage! event will be held on Monday, April 11 at Knight Theater in Uptown Charlotte.  Tickets are on sale now.

SEED20
 stands for SocialEntrepreneurs EmpowereD and the twenty organizations or individuals who are chosen for the program annually. Social Venture Partners created the annual SEED20 program for social entrepreneurs. The program is in its fifth year and this will be the first time that an LGBTQ-specific nonprofit has been chosen for the program. Campus Pride is one of twenty local nonprofits chosen for their relevance, innovation and potential for tangible community impact to Charlotte area.
