Charlotte Area: Campus Pride participates in Share Charlotte #GivingTuesday Campaign to “Give Good” with your money & time

Campus Pride is one of the 230+ nonprofit organizations participating with Share Charlotte this year in #GivingTuesdayCLT

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – Campus Pride is one of 230+ nonprofit organizations participating with Share Charlotte this year in #GivingTuesdayCLT, presented by Wells Fargo. Giving Tuesday, globally known as the first day of the “giving season” was made hyperlocal in 2014 through Share Charlotte’s #GivingTuesdayCLT and presents a unique opportunity to get everyone involved in making Charlotte a better place.

#GivingTuesdayCLT encourages the Charlotte community to support 235 local nonprofits through GivingTuesdayCLT.org today through Tuesday, Nov. 28.

“Campus Pride is proud to be part of #GivingTuesdayCLT again this year. We are one of only two local LGBTQ organizations participating this year,” said Shane Windmeyer, Executive Director of Campus Pride. “LGBTQ youth need support from their community in Charlotte, now more than ever.  We all have a responsibility to young people to create a safe place to learn, live and grow.”

Donations to Campus Pride can be made on the Share Charlotte website or online at CampusPride.org/Donate until midnight on Tuesday, November 28.

The 2016 #GivingTuesdayCLT movement raised $7.2 million for 174 nonprofits and included partnerships with more than 80 sponsors, local businesses and community organizations, putting Charlotte on the map as the largest community campaign in GivingTuesday history. This year, SHARE is rallying 235 nonprofits, more than 100 local businesses, sponsors and community partners spanning from Lake Norman to Center City to Ballantyne with one unifying goal of doing good for Charlotte … AND to raise $10 million for local nonprofits!

“We know that most people want to do good, but don’t always take action,” says Kelly Brooks, Founder and Executive Director of SHARE Charlotte. “Each of us has to participate in order to affect change for our city; we often wonder what would happen if the 1 million people who live in this city gave something, even $10, an hour of time or a pint of blood.”

Wells Fargo, the campaign’s presenting sponsor, dedicated $89,000 in grant money that has been dispersed to 89 different participating nonprofits via its local branches. Each branch chose a nonprofit of interest to gift $1,000 toward their campaign fundraising goals.
