#CampPride15 Day One: Check In Swag, Pipe Cleaners and Music Magic!

Campus Pride welcomes 120+ students, faculty and staff for the 9th annual Camp Pride & 4th annual Advisor Bootcamp on July 14, 2015. Throughout this week, Campus Pride will be sharing the camp experience through blogs and social media with the hashtags #CampPride15 and #AdvisorBootcamp.

Yesterday, over 120 college and university students and advisors representing colleges and universities from all over the country checked into Camp Pride, held for the first time at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte).

Camp Staff welcomed students and advisors in the Cone Center, where Camp Pride Executive Director Shane Windmeyer shared the history of Camp Pride and Advisor Bootcamp and its founding organization, Campus Pride. UNC Charlotte’s Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Arthur R. Jackson, shared the importance of grassroots activism to motivate campers.

#CampPride15’s first workshop was led by Windmeyer, who taught the importance of understanding identities, and the significance people attach to their identities, both visible and not.

The day was closed out by musical performances by Randi Driscoll, One Voice Charlotte and Justin Utley.
