Campus Pride recognizes #NYHAAD with Stop HIV Together Ambassador Mario Campos

National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD) is observed annually on April 10. NYHAAD increases awareness, generates conversations, and spotlights the work being done to reduce HIV among young people.

What Can You Do?

Young people need to understand their risk and know how to protect themselves against HIV.

  • Get educated.Ā Learn theĀ basic factsĀ about HIV transmission, testing, and prevention.
  • Get talking.Ā Talk with parents, teachers, doctors, and other trusted adults about HIV and sexual health.
  • Get tested for HIV.Ā CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 years getĀ tested for HIVĀ at least once as part of routine health care. Contact your health care provider about testing.
  • Get medicine.Ā  If you test positive for HIV, get support, seek treatment, and stay in care to remain healthy and prevent passing the virus to others.

Families, schools, and community- and school-based organizations and health centers must work together to help provide safe and nurturing environments for youth.

Get Involved

You can raise awareness of HIV among young people and provide information on stigma, prevention, testing, and care using CDCā€™sĀ Letā€™s Stop HIV TogetherĀ campaign resources.

Letā€™s Stop HIV TogetherĀ aims to empower communities, collaborators, and healthcare providers to reduce HIVĀ stigmaĀ and promoteĀ prevention,Ā testing,Ā andĀ treatmentĀ among all people in the United States. With campaignĀ resources, you can play a role in preventing HIV and helping people with HIV stay healthy. TheĀ Letā€™s Stop HIV TogetherĀ campaign is part of the nationalĀ Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE)Ā initiative.
