Presenters:

Eric Garrison, Assistant Director, Health Promotion – The College of William and Mary. Eric will discuss the unique needs of student athletes, with focus on how he works with the William and Mary Athletic Department to reach students regarding mental health.

Gretel, Counseling Center Therapy Dog, Allison Cutlip, HelpWELL Program Coordinator, Clinicians Shane Chaplain, Outreach Coordinator and Deb Beazley, Handler – West Virginia University. The team from WVU will introduce their therapy dog, Gretel, and discuss how Gretel has been leveraging social media to reach students about mental health and the recent move of the counseling center to a less visible location. They will also share other outreach initiatives utilizing today’s media, engaging students in which they are familiar and comfortable.

Laura Horne, MPH, Chapter Manager and Maggie Bertram, MA, Associate Director of Training and Education – Active Minds. Laura and Maggie will share creative programming pioneered by their on-campus chapters as well as examples and tips for how counseling centers can leverage their Active Minds chapters to reach students.
