A dozen Campus Pride youth leaders, staff and board members attended the 7th Annual Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund “Happening” on Wednesday, June 11 at the Westin Hotel in Uptown Charlotte, The Fund announced it’s 2014 grant recipients including Campus Pride, which was awarded two separate grants: 6,000 Operating Grant  for Charlotte-area work and a $3,000 project grant for the upcoming Charlotte college fair this August.

“Campus Pride is proud to call Charlotte our home.  We appreciate the ongoing support of the Charlotte Lesbian & Gay Fund as well as the Foundation for the Carolinas in doing the important local work to support area college campuses,” said Shane Windmeyer, Executive Director of Campus Pride. “The Fund and its stakeholders believe in our local area youth and as a result Campus Pride is able to improve the future for all youth in our city.”

Campus Pride prioritizes its local Charlotte work with area colleges. In 2013, the organization spent nearly a third of its budget locally to benefit the Charlotte community  through direct service, online resources, outreach, workshops, lectures, trainings and educational events. The $6000 Charlotte Lesbian & Gay Fund grant and the $3000 project grant for the local Charlotte college fair will partially fund our Charlotte local outreach efforts to LGBT youth and specifically area colleges and universities.  Grants like the Charlotte Lesbian & Gay Fund allow Campus Pride to continue a strong local presence benefiting area LGBT and ally youth/families as well as campus officials.
