“Campus Pride is proud to call Charlotte our home. We appreciate the ongoing support of the Charlotte Lesbian & Gay Fund as well as the Foundation for the Carolinas in doing the important local work to support area college campuses,” said Shane Windmeyer, Executive Director of Campus Pride. “The Fund and its stakeholders believe in our local area youth and as a result Campus Pride is able to improve the future for all youth in our city.”
Campus Pride prioritizes its local Charlotte work with area colleges. In 2013, the organization spent nearly a third of its budget locally to benefit the Charlotte community through direct service, online resources, outreach, workshops, lectures, trainings and educational events. Grants like the Charlotte Lesbian & Gay Fund allow Campus Pride to continue a strong local presence benefiting area LGBT and ally youth/families as well as campus officials.
The mission of the Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund is to cultivate one community that supports lesbian and gay individuals and families, with the belief that all people should be treated with equal respect and dignity in all facets of the community. The Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund (the Fund) was created to positively impact the underfunding of nonprofit organizations serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. The Fund award grants to organizations that support the LGBT community, as well as bridge building initiatives that seek to cultivate alliances and support with the non-gay community in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
