Campus Pride ties at #8 in Top 10 Ranking of National LGBTQ Organization Websites

Top_30_LGBT_Advocacy_WebsitesCampus Pride ties for #8 in national LGBTQ websites ranking of the Top 30; Campus Pride shares the #8 spot with organizations 8 to 13 times its annual budget

Campus Pride tied for the number 8 spot and scores high in the overall “Top 30 National LGBT Advocacy Websites” released today. Campus Pride shares the number 8 listing with the National LGBTQ Task Force, National Center for Lesbian Rights, IGLHRC and National PFLAG. Campus Pride has the smallest budget of the Top 10 listed organizations and shares the number 8 spot with organizations who have annual budgets 8 to 10 times higher. Campus Pride is also the only national organization in the Top 10 founded and based in the South.

“Campus Pride’s online presence is growing and in demand now more than ever. CampusPride.org and CampusPrideIndex.org web properties and online resources are a testament to our countless volunteers and our limited staff. We make every dollar stretch by utilizing technology as a platform for changing hearts and minds — as well as policies, programs and practices,” said Shane Windmeyer, executive director of Campus Pride. “We appreciate this ranking and the recognition at the number 8 spot with some amazing organizations that we respect and collaborate with in the movement.”

Campus Pride notes that CampusPrideIndex.org was not part of the ranking released and its scoring. According to the ranking article, there were over 50 national LGBT websites researched with an analysis weighing several different factors. Each ranking is based primarily on the Alexa.com ratings. Alexa’s traffic estimates are based on data from their sample of millions of Internet users using one of over 25,000 different browser extensions. The complete breakdown of each score is as follows:

  • 60% – Alexa.com rating (lowest numbers are the highest ranking)
  • 10% – Google estimated number of backlinks
  • 10% – Facebook likes
  • 10% – Twitter followers
  • 10% – Instagram follwers
