“Camp blew all my expectations out of the water. I thought this was just going to be another leadership conference, same as all the others... far from it! Camp was a journey of self-discovery... I made friends from all over the country and built the skills and confidence to change my campus forever. I will never think of LGBT issues the same again."

“Campus Pride organized one of the most effective, high caliber student organizing and leadership activities I have seen as a student leader.   Every time I thought I had all the info, I was pleasantly surprised.”

“Thanks to Campus Pride, I am a better leader. I have been able to reevaluate my perspectives on being a queer leader and come away with new tools to motivate others.”

“Never before had I encountered so many leaders like me.  The resources shared were phenomenal, definitely worth your time and investment…”

Camp Mission

The mission of the Campus Pride Summer Leadership Camp is to build leadership capacity among LGBT and Ally undergraduate student leaders from colleges and universities to create safer and more inclusive campus communities in the United States.

Camp Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify and describe components of their own identities that give them power and privilege as citizens and leaders in our society.
  2. Discuss ways in which queer or ally leaders fit into queer contexts and communities working to create positive change.
  3. Identify key resources and best practices available to create and implement a more inclusive and safe campus
  4. Apply leadership skills to create change on their home campuses and equip them to be social justice advocates for life (in places of worship, workplace, larger community).
  5. Identify and work with a network of peer and national leaders.
  6. Present current and emerging issues impacting queer communities in the United States.

Target Audience

Undergraduate LGBT & Ally student leaders at colleges and universities across the United States.

Philosophy

At the heart of a remarkable leader is a passion and a vision for change. Campus Pride believes in kindling this passion, nurturing the soul and inspiring “voice and action” among student leaders. The educational program promotes progressive critical thinking and leadership concepts built on a foundation of social justice and civility. Expert faculty and presenters encourage activism and individual growth to become a more effective change agent and leader on campus.  The “campy” environment also encourages participants to openly express themselves and have fun.
