Camp Pride alum Nick Daily featured in The Ricki Lake Show on October 2 episode about coming out

On October 2, The Ricki Lake Show will air an episode on coming out stories that will feature a face that is familiar to many in the Camp Pride family – Nick Daily! Nick was a 2009 Camp Pride attendee and a 2012 camp Pride Leader whose infectious smile and encouraging, positive attitude was an invaluable part of the Camp Pride experience this past summer.

The Ricki Lake Show initially contacted Shane Windmeyer, Executive Director of Campus Pride, for suggestions of youth to feature on the episode. After several interviews with the producers, Nick Daily and his twin Richard Daily were selected for the show. Nick and Richard’s mom and high school English teacher were also interviewed as part of the episode. Nick said that flying out to tape the show was a “great experience” and that the interviews were “very respectfully done, honoring our identities and experiences.” He hopes that both LGBTQ youth and the parents of LGBTQ children can find meaning in the coming out stories episode.

‘N Sync star Lance Bass is also featured on the show, as well The Real L Word star Romi Klinger and Shane Bitney, whose viral Youtube video about his partner’s family’s rejection and his later death demonstrated some of the very real consequences of marriage inequality and homophobia. You can view a trailer for the episode on Youtube. To find out when the Ricki Lake show is playing in your area, click here.

Nick Daily is currently a graduate student at Oregon State University studying College Student Services Administration. He graduated from the University of Redlands, where he was the first “out” gay student body president, with a degree in Women’s and Gender Studies in 2011.
