So thus far I’ve been trying to blog at least somewhat academically, looking at topics such as religion, HIV/AIDS research, and military policy. But I’m not all long wind and research people. I like the funny.
So today, I bring you some things in my internet travels that have made me giggle, and sometimes- dare I say it- outright LOL.
First off, I’m sure many of you have seen the latest ad campaign from the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). In itself, I find it pretty hilarious. Here it is for those of us who haven’t seen it, or for those who want to relive the fear:
Hilarity ensued did it not? If you’re at all like me, the first thing you thought was “Oh, this is ripe for parody. If only I had a stormy backdrop and a slew of friends…” Fear not young YouTube warrior! Feast your eyes on this!
Fantastic. Simply fantastic. You may have recognized some of your favorite celebrities in there: Jane Lynch, Alicia Silverstone, Lance Bass, George Takei, Liz Feldman, Jason Lewis, Sarah Chalke, and Sophia Bush perhaps? And if you’re as curious as me you’ll find that yes, www.giantgayrepellentumbrella.com actually IS a registered domain. It’s not much yet, but good Lord do I hope that takes off.
But wait, there’s more! This blog has more deal in it than a Sham-Wow commercial! And less assault and battery charges! (Ps: If you get that joke, we’re friends.) Anyway, the almighty Stephen Colbert got his hooks into this, and as always came through with something amazing:
|The Colbert Report||Mon – Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c|
|The Colbert Coalition’s Anti-Gay Marriage Ad|
But it’s not all about NOM shenanigans. No no, my friends. Other fantastic things have come up on the internet. My personal favorites came from the Proposition 8 battle. First, the anti-Prop 8 commercials you may have missed that parodied the PC vs. Mac ads:
OMG was that Molly Ringwald? Yes dear reader, yes it was.
And lastly, I leave you with this. Who doesn’t love a good musical?
